Ever since its inception in 1979, Skiltek have been growing from strength to strength, starting new courses, keeping abreast with the times. When established, it was just another industrial Training Centre, imparting training in a handful of courses, with affiliation to the National Council for Vocational Training, Ministry of Labour, Government of India and with the recognition of the Government of Kerala. in the future years, this institution, with the dedicated service and hard work of the managerial, supervisory, instructional and ministerial staff and with the sincere co-operation of thousands of students and their parents, has emerged to be the biggest of its kind in India. Now, Skiltek Private Industrial Training Institute, Skiltek Private ITI for Computer and Process Instrumentation, Skiltek College of engineering, are functioning under Skiltek.

The Directorate General of Training (DGT) under
Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is responsible for
vocational training courses in India, including the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS).
The National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) is the governing body of the schemes.
By aligning ITI courses with National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) students
can gain industry recognized cerfificates
